Israeli Food at Merkavá

Date night is not to be taken lightly and it might have been an absolute fluke we found this spot on our first date in this new city. Nestled in Amsterdam street, (hello, perfect spot to walk around after your dinner) this cozy place has great décor, great drinks and great food to share.

Once we heard Middle Eastern, we were in, and the menu really didn’t disappoint. Hummus, a bunch of mezzes (called here salatim), and some nice entrees were ordered. The place might be around 10 to 12 tables, so make sure to book, the ambience is really nice and very well designed, with a nice effect on the wall and just the perfect music volume.

Because of CoVid we were only able to order our first cocktail (Gin Limonana) but I must say, it was incredibly refreshing, kind of a health juice, but with a kick. The salatim are very good, albeit, the portions are a bit small, -especially for the price-, the baba ghanoush was good and the lentils were a great surprise. The roasted eggplant and the kebab hit the nail and left us very happy with our date choice.

I have read somewhere the chef has another restaurant in the area, Nosh, and I just passed it the other day, by the way, it is SO pretty, I almost wish I had a group of girlfriends to go try it out (when will CoVid pass? I need to start meeting people!) nevertheless, we will give it a try soon enough, girlfriends or not, after all there is never enough hummus in one’s life.
